Crypto billionaire bites back, literally

-

Listen, this story’s got everything. Danger, grit, and a billionaire who’s not about to go down without a fight.

Tim Heath, an Australian crypto billionaire with a $1.6 billion fortune, found himself in a real-life thriller last year in Estonia.

Two kidnappers, dressed as painters, tried to snatch him right from his apartment building stairwell. Like in the movies.

First blood

What happened next? Heath bit off one attacker’s finger. He literally took a chunk out of the guy’s index finger in a 30-second brawl that sounds like it came straight out of a mafia movie. Crazy.

The attackers thought they had the upper hand. One, Allahverdi Allahverdiyev, a former boxer and wrestler from Azerbaijan, tried to silence Heath by clamping a hand over his mouth. But Heath wasn’t having it.

He fought back fiercely, losing a tooth in the process but managing to break free and slam the door on them.

The kidnappers fled, leaving behind a van and, well, a part of a finger lying 100 meters away. Talk about leaving a trail.

Now, this wasn’t some spur-of-the-moment stunt. Prosecutors say this kidnapping was months in the making.

Seven men allegedly stalked Heath, tracking his every move, including using a GPS tracker on his car. They even bought painters’ uniforms and gear to pull off the disguise.

The plan? Kidnap Heath, haul him to a sauna house nearby, and force him to hand over his crypto fortune. They even had a hacker ready to help crack into his wallet.

Photoshot

Two suspects, including Allahverdiyev and Ilgar Mamedov, a Georgian citizen accused of being the getaway driver, are now on trial in Estonia.

Mamedov claims he was just in the wrong place at the wrong time, calling the allegations lies and fabrications. Others involved remain at large or unidentified.

The threat didn’t stop with the failed kidnapping, as weeks later, Heath received a chilling message on Telegram, photos of his apartment and a demand for 30 Bitcoin, worth about $3.3 million back then.

When he didn’t pay up, the kidnappers went quiet, but prosecutors warn the danger might still be lurking.

Security

Since then, Heath’s taken no chances. He’s spent over $3.1 million beefing up his security and even moved homes. His lawyers are now pushing to have the kidnappers pay for those costs.

So, even billionaires aren’t safe from real-world threats. But if you’re a crypto billionaire, and you’re gonna get attacked, biting off a finger? That’s some serious fight-back energy.
