GoTyme Bank Switches On Crypto Access for Millions in Philippines

-

Philippines digital bank GoTyme has switched on GoTyme crypto services for its 6.5 million customers through an Alpaca integration.

The bank now lets users buy and hold 11 digital assets, including Bitcoin and Ether, inside the main app. All trades run through an automatic conversion from Philippine pesos to U.S. dollars.

The new setup keeps crypto inside the existing Philippines digital bank environment. People use the same GoTyme app they already use for everyday payments and account access.

The Alpaca integration connects that banking front end to regulated trading and custody in the background.

GoTyme launched in October 2022 as a joint project between Tyme Group from Singapore and the Gokongwei Group in the Philippines.

By September 2025, Nikkei Asia reported that the Philippines digital bank had a customer base above 6.5 million.

This scale gives GoTyme crypto services an immediate reach across the retail market.

GoTyme Crypto Services, Alpaca Integration, and App Flow

According to the GoTyme website, new users can open an account and get a debit card in about five minutes. The same app now connects that banking profile to GoTyme crypto services.

People can move from pesos to Bitcoin and Ether or other coins without leaving the Philippines digital bank interface.

The Alpaca integration powers the trade engine and storage. The app first converts pesos to USD, then completes crypto purchases using that balance.

This process happens inside the system, so users see one continuous flow. They do not need a separate account with Alpaca to access Bitcoin and Ether or the other supported assets.

GoTyme CEO Nate Clarke described the goal in clear terms. “Our product focuses on simplicity and reliability, designed for people who want to buy crypto confidently without complicated technical analysis or managing multiple apps,” he said.

The comment highlights the focus on direct access rather than trading dashboards.

The app supports Bitcoin and Ether, Solana, Polkadot, and several other altcoins within the GoTyme crypto services menu.

While the bank has not detailed order types or chart tools, the current design centers on straight buy-and-hold flows.

The Alpaca integration handles matching, execution, and custody while GoTyme runs the retail layer of the Philippines digital bank.

Southeast Asia Expansion and Philippines Crypto Adoption Data

GoTyme links its GoTyme crypto services roadmap with a broader Southeast Asia expansion plan.

The bank aims to enter Vietnam and Indonesia, two large markets with strong mobile usage.

As the Philippines digital bank grows beyond its home market, the same Alpaca integration model could support regional crypto access in future deployments.

In a profile with The Digital Banker, Nate Clarke said GoTyme still focuses on scale rather than near-term profit.

“We are very much still in a growth phase. We are not optimizing for profitability at the moment. What matters to us is building a growing and engaged customer base,”

he said. The bank expects to look more closely at profitability targets after 2027.

The backdrop for Philippines crypto adoption is also significant. The Philippines ranks ninth on Chainalysis’ 2025 Global Crypto Adoption Index Top 20.

This position places the country among the most active retail markets worldwide. At the same time, lawmakers are studying a bill that would create a strategic reserve of 10,000 BTC.

The plan would link part of the national reserve structure to Bitcoin, although the measure is still under review.

Within this setting, GoTyme crypto services add another regulated access point to Philippines crypto adoption.

The mix of a large existing customer base, fast onboarding in about five minutes, and the Alpaca integration places Bitcoin and Ether and other assets inside a live Philippines digital bank that also plans a wider Southeast Asia expansion.
