Polymarket Trader Makes $67K After UFC Winner Mix Up

-

A Polymarket trader made $67,608 after a brief UFC announcer mistake changed the market during a live fight. The trader spent $676 on low priced shares after the wrong winner was announced in the bout between Tyrell Fortune and Marcin Tybura.

The mistake happened when UFC announcer Bruce Buffer first declared Marcin Tybura the winner. That call pushed Tyrell Fortune shares on Polymarket down to 1 cent.

Then the result changed seconds later when Buffer corrected the announcement and named Tyrell Fortune as the actual winner.

Because of that short window, the Polymarket trader bought Fortune shares at the lowest price. After the correction, the value of those shares jumped. As a result, the trader turned a small position into a $67K profit during the live event.

Tyrell Fortune shares fall to one cent on Polymarket

The trader, known as LlamaEnjoyer on Polymarket and Verrissimus on X, acted as soon as the market moved on the wrong result. The report said the trader believed something looked wrong after the first announcement.

During the confusion, Tyrell Fortune shares dropped to 1 cent on the Polymarket UFC bet market. That gave the trader a very small entry price. Then, once the UFC fixed the result, the position moved sharply in the other direction.

The trade showed how fast prediction markets react during live sports events. A single announcement changed the market price within seconds. Then the correction reversed that move just as quickly.

Bruce Buffer correction flips the Polymarket UFC bet

The report said LlamaEnjoyer almost made a much larger trade before buying the cheaper shares. The trader said they nearly placed $100,000 on Marcin Tybura at 99 cents after the first announcement.

However, the trader stopped before sending that order. Then they switched sides after deciding the result did not look right. In a post, the trader said, “Cancelled my order, scooped up 1c shares instead. the UFC corrected the winner seconds later. easiest 100x ever.”

The trader also said the order was placed before a UFC commentator said, “We have a mistake.” According to the report, that means the trade happened within about 50 seconds of the incorrect winner call. The trader also said,

“There’s no way Tybura won that fight.”

Prediction markets volume keeps rising in March

The Polymarket trader story came as prediction markets continued to grow in crypto. The report said trading volume across platforms such as Polymarket, Kalshi, and Opinion reached more than $10.4 billion so far in March.

That total marked a tenfold increase from March 2025. At the same time, more than 865,000 users placed bets on prediction markets this month. Those bets covered sports, politics, financial results, and cultural events.

The UFC winner mix up showed how these markets can move during live moments. In this case, the price swing came from a brief on air error. Then the correction changed the market again almost at once.

Marcin Tybura and Tyrell Fortune result creates sharp market swing

The fight between Marcin Tybura and Tyrell Fortune became a clear example of speed in Polymarket trading. First, the wrong winner call sent the market in one direction. Then the corrected result pushed it back.

That sequence created a short chance for the Polymarket trader who believed the first announcement was wrong. The trader used that moment to buy Fortune shares at 1 cent. After that, the correction turned the position into a profit of more than $67,000.

The episode also showed how live sports events can affect prediction markets in real time. In this case, the entire move followed a brief Bruce Buffer error, a sudden market reaction, and a corrected UFC result.
