Willy Woo says Bitcoin is crowned as the perfect asset for the next thousand years. Okay, that’s a pretty long time.
And that’s no small claim, coming straight from Bitcoin old-timer Willy Woo himself.
Now, that’s a guy who’s seen the crypto streets from the inside out, so when he talks, we listen.
Capitalization
How was it before? Bitcoin has always been the reigning champ in crypto land, with a market cap of trillions of dollars.
Sounds huge? Well, hold up, it’s still a fraction, less than 11% of gold’s $23 trillion market cap, and way behind the US dollar’s $21.9 trillion supply.
So, while Bitcoin’s the shiny new king, it’s still got some serious catching up to do if it wants to play in the big leagues alongside gold and the dollar.
Property
Willy Woo throws down a spicy truth, Bitcoin needs more capital flowing in, big time, to rival these traditional giants. Without that, it’s just a splendid idea that hasn’t yet flexed its full muscle.
But here’s the catch, they got these Bitcoin treasury firms pumping up adoption, right?
Trouble is, not much is known about how risky those operations really are.
Woo warns, the weak ones will blow up, with investors possibly getting burned if a big market correction hits and those BTC treasuries crumble like a house of cards.
And don’t forget the hot potato of custody. Big players aren’t self-custodying Bitcoin, that’s too inconvenient, they’re using ETFs and institutional vaults.
Sounds safe, but concentrating Bitcoin in a few places could leave it vulnerable to nation-state meddling.
Imagine a game of Monopoly where the government can just grab a stack of your properties if it wants.
Bumpy road
Now, despite these risks, experts like Adam Back from Blockstream say companies are still the logical front line for Bitcoin adoption.
If a company can’t beat Bitcoin’s expected future returns, why not just buy Bitcoin? It’s like betting on the home team in the championship game, sometimes smartest play is the simplest.
So it looks like Bitcoin’s got the crown of the perfect asset for centuries to come, but the road ahead is bumpy. Better be prepared!
