RWA tokenization is the $400 trillion jackpot?

-

The sector of real-world asset tokenization is causing a tidal wave. Since the start of 2025, the tokenized RWA market has jumped 70%, hitting an all-time high of $26.5 billion.

But now experts say that’s just the opening act in what could become a $400 trillion financial revolution.

Traditional financial market

Andrew Ho and Ming Ruan, the brainiacs from Animoca Brands, say this market’s potential is massive, like mob boss big.

They’re pointing at a $400 trillion traditional finance playground just waiting to get tokenized across blockchains. Sounds like the kind of opportunity that makes you sit up with your espresso.

Don’t mistake this $26.5 billion number for the whole pie. It’s just a tiny slice of that $400 trillion market.

The biggest chunks of tokenized assets right now are private credit, treasury securities, commodities, stocks, alternative funds, and global bonds.

Basically, they’re laying down the groundwork in some serious financial heavyweights, but there’s a long road ahead.

Asset lifecycle

The real winners likely will be the asset managers who build platforms that can handle the entire asset lifecycle, from issuing to settling and trading those tokens on secondary markets.

You want to be the capo of this operation, controlling every step. Stablecoins are playing an executive role in this drama.

Circle and Tether are in the game already, using their USDC and USDT stablecoins as native tokens powering high-speed blockchains designed for these RWAs.

Ethereum’s empire

Now, you want to talk heavy hitters? Ethereum is running the show, capturing 55% of RWA tokenization market share, roughly $156 billion in on-chain value, and when you toss in Layer-2 heroes like ZKsync Era, Polygon, and Arbitrum, Ethereum controls 76%.

The word on the street is, as RWA demand grows, so too will Ethereum’s empire.

But don’t count out the challengers knocking on the door. High-performance networks are gaining ground, with projects like Animoca Brands’ NUVA marketplace making waves, and tokens like Stellar fueling the sector’s momentum.

So, RWA tokenization’s explosive growth across multiple blockchains is reshaping finance as we know it. Ethereum’s the reigning boss, but competition is heating up. Future in making.
