Decentraland lost its first place

-

According to analytics platform Santiment, the former Elrond network has overtaken Decentraland, an Ethereum-based virtual reality gaming and social platform, to become the top crypto gaming project in terms of development activity.

Code frenzy

Santiment reports that MultiversX, formerly known as Elrond, EGLD, recorded 236.93 significant GitHub events, surpassing Decentraland’s 150.4 events.

Unlike Decentraland, which operates on the Ethereum main chain and the Polygon network, MultiversX runs on its own dedicated blockchain.

The third place is belongs to Immutable X, IMX, a layer-2 NFT scaling solution, followed with 77.4 GitHub events, while the Ethereum sidechain Skale Network, SKL ranked fourth with 42.6 events.

The original crypto VR

Decentraland, one of the oldest virtual reality-linked cryptocurrency projects, has been a prominent player in the industry alongside The Sandbox, Vulcan Verse, and Cryptovoxels.

Despite high user activity, Decentraland has been overtaken by MultiversX in terms of developer activity and project updates.

GitHub activity, which reflects the number of developers working on a project and the frequency of updates, is a critical measure of a project’s vitality and potential for success.

Santiment uses a refined methodology for collecting GitHub event data, excluding regular updates to provide a clearer picture of genuine development efforts.

The firm suggests that high development activity is a positive indicator, as it often reflects the developers’ confidence in the project’s future and reduces the likelihood of it being a scam.

High activity, high trust

MultiversX, a distributed proof-of-stake blockchain network, is decentralized through over 3,000 nodes and aims to support developers in building next-generation applications.

The project’s native token, EGLD, is currently trading around $35, and despite recent declines in the past month, the heightened development activity could signal long-term potential for MultiversX.
