In a video, Adams tied the NYC Token to the city’s identity.
“I always say there are two types of Americans, those who live in New York and those who wish they could,”
he said.
He also described the token as a way to bring the city to outsiders.
“If you can’t make it to New York, we’re going to bring New York to you,”

At the same time, claims about liquidity spread on social media. The report described unverified accusations that the team removed liquidity. Crypto analyst Rune cited blockchain data and claimed investors lost more than $3.4 million.

The NYC Token website offered limited project detail, according to the report. The “Buy NYC Token” button did not work at the time of writing. The “Read Whitepaper” button also did not work.
However, the site published NYC Token tokenomics. It said 40% of tokens go to community rewards. It also listed 25% for liquidity and 15% for development.
The remaining 20% was split between marketing and the team, the report said. The site also used broad language about a “decentralized financial ecosystem.” The report did not cite further details on how that would work.
